Overview

Qi̘v Bùshhèj̼àm was founded durring the early 11th century, by Ǵatsa Dyfodwg. The establishment of Qi̘v Bùshhèj̼àm was somewhat plagued by a lack of willing colonists, leading to Ǵatsa Dyfodwg electing to pay people to resettle in Qi̘v Bùshhèj̼àm.

Qi̘v Bùshhèj̼àm was built using the conventions of Tauric durring the early 11th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Qi̘v Bùshhèj̼àm is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Qi̘v Bùshhèj̼àm is buildings are arranged arround a network of premissive cobblestone streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The city is defended by arcane means. It's hard to spot at first, but there's a tell tell shimmer in the air arround Qi̘v Bùshhèj̼àm, and you can spot the ocasional warding glyph carved into a rock or tree all arround town. These mystical defences are ancient, unknowable, and unassailable by current means... Assuming everything is in working order. Otherwise, the wards are little more than a deathtrap. The Relic of the World That Was have not been wellmaintained over the years, and while functional are in dire need of some loving care and perhapse light renovation.

A look around Qi̘v Bùshhèj̼àm gives you an uneasy feeling. Everything is just a little too worn down, a little too dirty, or both. No one makes eye contact. Kids play quietly, but happily. Occasionally a passerby glances at you out of the corner of their eye, staring just long enough for it to be uncomfortable. A second look around Qi̘v Bùshhèj̼àm makes it abundantly clear the city suffered something horrible some time ago. It's as if the town itself is depressed. Smiles are few, cheer is nowhere to be had.

Cultural Notes

Qi̘v Bùshhèj̼àm's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used embraces individualism and experimentation. It emerged as a movement against traditional, classical styles and sought to make buildings dynamic and fun while breaking the rules. The style incorporated elements of previous architectural styles in exaggerated and whimsical ways. Traditional, conservative leanings were void in this era, with most scholars of architecture agreeing it was a time of “anything goes.”.

Points of Interest

Qi̘v Bùshhèj̼àm is a major trade hub, connecting several important cities or resource production areas. It’s probably at an important river juncture, ancient crossroads, or occupying the only safe path through some perilous wilderness. Its position may be important enough that it can survive on trade alone, despite being unable to feed itself with the surrounding land. Such hubs are usually heavily garrisoned by the lord who profits from their tariffs and taxes.

Due to a magical anomaly, Qi̘v Bùshhèj̼àm is directly accessible from a nearby river, despite the lack of a physical connection between the town's pond and the river.
